Our bones all float in a giant web of soft tissue called myofascia. None of them touch each other, they are suspended individually within this structure of tension and compression, without which, our bones would clatter to the floor. This tension allows for movement of the bones and distribution of strain and heavy loads, essential to our everyday needs.
If a shortness is created somewhere, for example, tissue holding together too tightly, the whole structure changes shape, creating areas of weakness, and our strength and ability to function decreases. Shortness can happen due to such things as trauma or postural habits.
It is essential that our soft tissue structure keeps the same amount of tension throughout itself for optimum performance. Tissues which have shortened, thus creating pain problems can be treated with myofascial release massage treatments, enabling the body structure to bounce back with a good and efficient tension balance for a full range of movement.
