A simple way to help yourself if you find your back and shoulders ache whilst walking about is to remember that the crown of your head, and not the front of it, is supposed to be the highest point. Tuck your chin in a fraction and raise the crown of your head up as if a chord was pulling it skywards. This simple action makes a huge difference to your posture and consequently to putting strain and stress on muscles causing the muscles to hurt.

As many of us are constantly rushing to get to where we need to be, it is easy to lean our upper body forward and stick our chins out to help us speed on our way. But it is this common bad posture which is a cause for many people’s aches and discomfort. By walking more upright, it is certainly more difficult to rush, but you will not have to also put up with the side effects of sore and aching muscles.
